HISTORIC TRAIL MAP
Welcome to the Jewish colony of the unique town of Sosúa, whose origins go back to 1938. During World War II, at the Evian Conference held in France, the Dominican Republic opened its borders to 100,000 Jews as refugees.
This historic trail brings to life the most iconic sites of the original Jewish colony and its corresponding current locations.
This trail presents the central part of Sosúa, known as Batey, where there were a total of 8 barracks and other constructions as shown in an original map drawn by Hahn, S., December 1, 1946, archived at the Sosúa Jewish Museum.
To begin the historical route you can choose to start at the synagogue (#1), and continue in numerical order. The farthest place is the cemetery (#14), which can be reached by car in 5 to 8 minutes from the Batey.
The historic trail takes approximately 30 to 90 minutes by foot (it will vary depending on how much time you want to spend at each place).
