Now - Playa Alicia

In 2003 sand appeared on the bottom of the reefs, which was the beginning of the formation of a beach that has grown over the years. In 2011, on top of the reefs, a Jewish monument with a Star of David was built in honor of the settlers, symbolizing their arrival in Sosúa.

Then

During the 1960s one of the attractions of Sosúa was witnessing the Ganadera wagon driven by a Roman mule, transporting meat waste that was thrown into the sea and on which sharks came to feast. It was a deep reef, and the place was called El Basurero (garbage dump); it was also known as Morúa.
