After the assassination of Trujillo in 1961 DORSA began its final stage in Sosúa. By the 1970s the Casa Grande was no longer operative; the back part was used as cinema. Years later a hotel was built on the premises were the DORSA offices and its houses used to be.

This was the headquarters of the Domini- can Republic Settlement Association (DORSA), the institution that the Joint Distribution Committee created in 1939 in order to establish, organize and develop the Jewish colony in Sosúa. The JOINT was in charge of looking for refugees in Europe to prevent their extermination in Nazi concentration camps. The office house known as Casa Grande opened in 1940.
